(March 2010) New Arkansas Medicaid Director Gene Gessow will be the Policy Foundation’s guest at an April 6 luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Frankie’s restaurant in downtown Little Rock. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Region’s Bank Building at the corner of Broadway and Capitol.
Mr. Gessow brings a wealth of experience with Medicaid to his new position in Arkansas. He recently served as Medicaid chief (2003-2008), and Department of Human Services director (2008-09) in Iowa. Gessow also served as Maine Medicaid director and as New Mexico’s DHS deputy director of finance.
Mr. Gessow earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin, a law degree from the University of Denver, and a master’s degree in public administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
He is expected to discuss challenges facing Medicaid in Arkansas. One issue is ‘Bending the Arkansas Medicaid Cost Curve.’
There is no cost to attend the event but attendees are responsible for the cost of their own lunch.
